"Better than a terrorist org" is not my benchmark. But you seem to think

it's some sort of a-ha revelation that a country might actually care more about protecting its OWN CITIZENS than non-citizens (or in this case citizens of a semi-autonomous territory that is run by a terrorist organization hell bent on that country's destruction). It seems like a "well no shit, Sherlock" revelation to me. I'd hope that our country would care more about US citizens than say, the citizens of Iran, particularly if Iran were to launch an attack against our civilians. It's why we're called the United States of America and not the United States of Iran. One of a country's primary roles is the safety and protection of its own citizens.

And I think Israel gives a little bit of a shit. If they gave no shits, Gaza would be a giant pile of rubble and sand right now. Israel will sacrifice hundreds of its own soldiers to launch a ground assault instead.
