A couple of thoughts. First off the US is not the only Ally calling for

Minimizing human casualties in Gaza. But also, there is some friendly advice in that position. We did not manage Iraq the public sentiment around the world that was in our favor after 911 changed considerably after we invaded Iraq over their government and occupied the country. Learn from our mistakes.
