Israelis election and Palestinian polls would agree with your last point

Israelis don't trust Palestinians.
Palestinians trust the Israelis even less.

The former expects deadly cross border raids targeting civilians. The later thinks the Israelis will blockade and violate sovereignty with impunity. Neither is really wrong.
