Social Security is a ponzi scheme in everything but name .. it's the same

thing as a a ponzi investment scheme except that since participation is compulsory for all citizens, the risk is an imbalance of old to young or an increase in benefits not sustained by the level of current taxation vs. a traditional ponzi scheme where the risk - and it seems to always happen - is that you run out of new clients.

But if younger people were able to opt out, and did, it would collapse just like a ponzi scheme. The government's power to compel participation is what keeps it afloat.
