Yep. As a wise man said, you can't put the poop back in the donkey. And in

this case, I don't think we would like the results if we did. It's not like we would stand around and tell all those seniors "Hey, tough chit. You should've planned better." And to be fair, some people simple aren't capable of doing that and some simply can't afford to. Not to mention people have been contributing 12.4% for years and even decades under a "contract" with an expected outcome. Modifications should only be made going forward IMO.

So the only valid discussion is how to best handle SS going forward. And if we're using it to fund other things, how to properly fund those things either via higher SS taxes or via general tax revenue.
