This was my concern as well when I've considered this (sort of) random


legislature or president approach.

Our country and its' laws are COMPLICATED. As much as I hate the huge advantage of incumbency, and non stop campaigning, and the money involved, experience does matter.

If our leaders were selected in this manner, then the REAL power would be in the consultants and behind the scenes advisors who would be needed, because even someone who passes a civics test would be highly challenged to understand what the hell is going on in committee A, or what Bill B really means, etc.

But then again, if you look at it a certain way, the consultants and behind the scenes advisors have a lot of power and influence now. Maybe someone who didn't owe them when walking through the door could be even better.
