is absolutely insane. It's an indication that they have no idea how the government actually works. Try writing a budget that determines how many ships the Navy will need 20 years from now while balancing how many next generation fighter planes and so forth they should be producing. Which kind of warfighting comms network will be most effective? My father and a team of dozens did that for 20+ years in the Pentagon. Now imagine walking in from Congress as a political appointee and trying to do that if you don't already have years of experience in this area. Is that a recipe for more or less efficiency in the budget process and a stronger or weaker military?
