I think it’s more option 2 than option 1, and in today’s media environment,


That’s not at all unlikely. But - who cares? It works either way.

Socialism and “defund” got hung around dem necks - even though the “socialists” were defeated convincingly in the ‘20 primaries, and Biden at the head of the ticket repeatedly opposed “defund” in his campaign.

The problem exists regardless of which option is more responsible. In fact, part of recognizing that should be offensive. Most repubs are not pro-Putin. That doesn’t mean dems shouldn’t hang the prominent Trumpie pro-Putin examples around all repub candidates’ necks.
