The problem is the GOP is very good


at taking the fringe positions which are not supported by most democrats and turning them into huge culture war / wedge issues to fire up their base.

CRT is an “issue” not because the Fox News and the GOP made it up out of whole cloth, but because there is a portion of Dems that want to discuss racial issues through a lens of blame and guilt. I don’t think most democrats want to teach white kids that they should feel guilty for being white.

Defund the police is not an issue because Fox and the GOP made it up. It’s because some fucking moron Dems branded it as such.

I think the Dems need to do a far better job calling out and distancing themselves from the stupidity of the left wing of the party. Mitt Romney wasn’t afraid to say “I have morons on my team”. The Dems need to do the same.

I’ll add that the problem with the GOP is the morons ARE the team, they just also happen to have a couple of smart, decent people left like Romney, that I’m afraid are a dying breed among the ranks of republicans
