Propaganda it may be, but it works. The article was trying to warn
Of its effectiveness in elections. That shouldn’t be surprising - we all understand that people tend not to share the same view of reality these days. Every committed dem shares your perception, but in terms of winning elections, that’s irrelevant. Those are dem voters no matter what.
Disappointing election results in 2020 - really across the board for the dems - prove that enough key voters have a very different perception of reality.
Step one - dem strategists need to better apply their understanding of these different perceptions to their electoral strategies. Stop dismissing these concerns. I’m not saying I have the answers - I just know refusing to acknowledge the problem won’t generate the answers.
I actually think dems should get out in front. It might be a little radical, but they’re kind of doing it with defund - dems are proactively fighting back by proposing “refund”. How about dropping the argument about whether “crt” is taught, and just opposing things like “racial spectruming” of elementary school kids, even if it only happens once? Agreeing that kids should be taught to be proud of our founding principles, and being honest and forthright about our many failures in applying those principles? Opposing examples in academia where “objectionable” speakers are cancelled? Strongly stating that the ACLU should get back to its real purpose: to protect the 1A, rather than subjectively deciding which objectionable messages they’ll stand by and watch be suppressed? The ACLU should consider itself duty bound to defend the rights of Nazis to march in Skokie. Because the Constitution gives them that right.
Imo, learn that lesson now, or lose a few more elections before finally getting it.
