Mostly because they really do have a base of angry, ignorant, racist rubes

Who glue themselves to their dedicated propaganda channel for hours on end every day and lap up every bit of it.

Even the “smart ones” who know exactly what it is and what they’re doing are glad to participate for some reason.

It’s not a cult though.
