I still think this will (mostly) be much ado about nothing, but

locker rooms (particularly school locker rooms) are where they start to lose my support.

Putting aside the issue of abuse, even if you have a legitimately transitioning male to female student, I could see how allowing biological male to use the girls locker room could make some (many) of the girls uncomfortable. Fortunately, I assume most girls' locker rooms are not like in Porky's and actually have private shower stalls, but the guys locker rooms when I was in school had totally open / community showers. Is a biological female who is transitioning to a maie going to be showering next to all the guys after gym class. And no one sees an issue with that potentially happening?

I think the bathroom thing is a non-issue. But I don't know that you can write off the locker room concern as just being due to bigotry. As discussed in the thread below, some male to female transexuals, a) retain their male "equipment" and b) are attracted to women. It's OK grant them access to use the high school (or middle school) girls' locker room?
