Under the ACA twenty million people who were previously uninsured have health-care coverage. That's equivalent to the populations of Tennessee, Indiana, and Missouri combined. This, despite 19 states refusing to expand Medicaid. The core of those refusing are the old Confederacy.

At breakfast with my niece, a family physician, she gave numerous stories about many, many people gaining access for the first time. I personally know several people denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions. including family members with early onset breast cancer.
