I think so. In part, because there are so many forms of islam
I think treating all muslims as equally problematic exacerbates the real problem emanating from a specific sect of islam promoted by our primary arab ally in the area. The arab americans I know are certainly net contributors to the US. And my suspicion is that would hold true for the majority of muslims with the gumption and means to emigrate here or who wish to be educated here.
However, I am biased against organized religions in general -- and particularly those that contain religious rules about governance -- like traditional islam does.
