Of course I haven't missed those digs.
I was a supply preacher for six years in a rural Virginia church, mostly tobacco farmers. I still count many as friends after several decades. I would say that their judgement on most of life was on solid ground. Free from sin? Hardly. I've also visited with churches on the southside of Chicago and would say the same for them. So it hurts when I hear about "takers and makers" and the "47%" who "are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims." The people I knew worked their asses off, got up early to take the CTA to work, then came home and volunteered with their church. So, yes, a respectful dialogue is a good place to start.
P.S. As a child of white suburbia, you were pretty harsh on "pampered suburban jerks" -- that's MY kin you're talking about! [Post edited by DanTheFan at 05/11/2016 10:05PM]
