Agree. The hysterical rhetoric is dangerous and we need to tone it down.

There's always going to be a lunatic fringe saying that if their candidate loses, then the country will be destroyed. But if that belief becomes mainstream, we're in trouble.

If it is literally true that Trump will end American democracy if he wins, then anything that prevents him from winning becomes morally justified. In fact, doing whatever it takes to keep him out of office is the patriotic thing to do. If that becomes a mainstream belief, then the danger is obvious. Ditto for those who believe that Biden's reelection will destroy America.

I don't want Trump to be elected president but if he is elected, democracy in America will not end. We don't have to speculate on what a Trump presidency would look like, after all. He's been president and America did just fine.
