Seems like the wrong reason to me (unless you’re literally on the lamb from the US gov, in which case, your prospects are bleak). It’s a cop out, and one of many ways hysteria over a trump win could help create backlash making the most dire fears likelier to become reality.

I hope I’m over extrapolating, as this interview is with only 4 Mich kids, but after watching I felt a bit fatalistic about Trump 2.0. 1 card carrying dem, 1 committed Trump voter, 2 undecideds - 1 hard core lefty, 1 Palestinian. They claim Biden can’t win their votes. The Palestinian girl is understandably outraged about Gaza - she was born in the WB. She seems likely not to vote. Voted for Biden in ‘20. Basically, 10s of 1000s of her people weren’t dying in a hellscape when Trump was pres. I don’t think she blames Biden for the war, but she thinks Biden should be able to control Israel. Ironically, the trump voter voiced skepticism about that. The hard lefty’s example was “I want all ICE engines banned now, not gradually, and Biden’s a gradualist.”

So, the Palestinian girl will likely stay home, helping to elect trump, which removes the only force on earth constraining Israel at all. She’ll have punished the guy she thinks didn’t do enough, but it’s very hard to see how her people become safer as a result. And the hard lefty will cast a vote which promises to roll back all EV regs. But at least she’ll feel good about being one of the few thousand nationally who voted for Cornell West.

She smiled as she said she doesn’t want to vote the lesser evil. She wants to vote for what she wants! Apparently, even if doing so will cause a complete reversal of the things that matter to her. She makes less sense to me than the Palestinian. But, here we are.
