Yeah, that is one awful part of war - the people sufferer the consequ

consequences of their leaders' actions. How many Germans had to die to eliminate Hitler and the Nazi's. How many Japanese to eliminate the imperial / military leadership? How many colonists had to die to try eliminate the rebellious leaders like Adams, Washington and Jefferson.

For better or for worse (and its for much much worse) Hamas is the effective governing body over Gaza. Whether by the will of the people or by force (was Hirohito the chosen leader of the Japanese - there was no popular vote for him) a citizenry who has leaders who take them to war risk suffering the brutalities of that war. A citizenry whose leaders seek to conquer and eliminate a neighboring country risk suffering that neighboring countries refusal to be conquered.
