Agree but this is one aspect that really is a major both sides issue and

with no hope of improvement that I can see. It's reasonable to argue that especially on some issues, one side seems "worse" -- more about inherent bigotry for example. I'd say there are awful things on both sides and we are completely missing the bigger picture to get stuck constantly on which side or issue feels more vile. I get this. But make no mistake -- we not only have ridiculous and extremes voices on the "left", but within every sub group -- people shrink from standing up to the extremes.

Politics has always had this problem -- but it is worse today because never before have the extremes had such a loud voice (social media+) and with seemingly so much fear from others even generally within the same sphere to stand up for what is right. So politicians campaign in constant fear of losing some key constituent they are sure they need -- and in todays split world, they may be rigit. It is worse than ever and a hopeless feeling part of today's politics
