The article and the original post which is that alleged conservatives that want power closer to the people refuse to let localities govern themselves. See the statue in Charlottesville and masks in Virginia school districts.
But to the point you are hung up on, July 4th did nothing but declare independence from england. It did not form anything.
When did Apple become a company? When a bunch of guys got together in a garage? When they decided to call themselves apple? Or when they filed paperwork to form a company? That would be my answer. Same thing with the United States.
But again, you didn't like that I said the states had been around only a few years. It's silly, whether you want to call them States after 1776 or with the ratification of the Constitution or the articles of confederation, you're only talking a few years so what the hell difference does all this make?
Unless you think they were States prior to 1776?
