The country was founded BY the states. It’s literally in the name…

They are effectively mini-countries that have ceded (for better or worse) some power to a federal government. That power was supposed to be limited, but has instead metastasized over time into the leviathan it is today.

The problem in this country is the federal government, not the states. If you reduced federal power tomorrow by 90% and states picked up the slack according to the wishes of their citizens, you’d solve many of the problems we worry about.
