arbitrary. At the national level representation is disproportionate. At the local level, places that have a lot of common interests (Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR for example) would benefit by local control that isn't complicated by politics in state capitals (Olympia and Salem in my example).

The suggestion was not to abandon the Constitution. I would actually be in favor of redrawing some states though. It won't happen because of entrenched power in those states. But if it did happen, it would require a less heavy hand from the federal government.
