Probably makes sense to a weirdo like you with zero understanding of how


things actually work. Fact is, we’re in a global digital economy where almost nothing is unique to a state and less is actually “local”, with everything even halfway meaningful needing to be regulated or administered on a national scale and smaller things (schools, roads, public works projects) at the local level. Having a patchwork of states that try and do things their own way and acting like mini countries is a problem to any of us who actually pay attention and try to understand things. State governments add very little value at the end of the day.

Not to mention having states like California and Texas that are big enough to be countries get the same treatment as former trading posts like North Dakota and Alaska that have fewer people than their third largest cities ….
