Well it's obviously not just pulling in deaths by a few months, or we

wouldn't have 2 straight years of massively higher than normal deaths across all age groups. A several month pull forward would spike initial deaths and then things would normalize. They've been higher than normal for 2 straight years. And you'd also have to explain the nearly 600K excess deaths of people aged 74 and younger, including over 300K excess deaths of people aged 64 and younger if it was just pulling in deaths by a few months or years. And we should expect to see those massive drop in deaths any day now. So far, deaths keep chugging along at significantly higher than normal rates.

There are certainly some deaths due to the response. If you take Cancer, Circulatory diseases (heart attack and stroke) and dementia/alzheimer's... there's under 100K of excess deaths associated with these 3 leading causes of death over the last 3 year's combined. So maybe you make the case that 10% of the 1 million deaths are due to our response. But if someone dies of cancer and Covid, it also shows up as a cancer death. So some of the increase in deaths from cancer are Covid killing a covid patient faster. As someone for whom cancer hits close to home... that's not a, "welp, no big deal... the person had cancer" situation.
