You're a Kroger manager? Cool. Doing liquor license hearings for Alberson's
I got to meet dozens of their Colorado managers. As a result of that work, we also ended up handling a bunch of their slip and falls--anything over the self-insured threshold was insurance counsel but we did a bunch of the small stuff, the only personal injury defense I ever did.
A difficult but interesting job IMO, with a lot of hats to wear and fires to put out every day and a broad skill set required. I mean, just managing that much perishable inventory at such low margins, with the regional manager on your ass over decimal points of profit.....but that's the least of it. The ones I've met are typically conservative- your basic Republican chamber of commerce and Rotarian kind of man or woman--but they maintain an even keel because they spend a lot of time both managing employees and keeping customers happy.
I guarantee you you're underpaid, though, for what you do.
