...refer to Trump as this uber-power that magically uses his mass of support to sway the decisions of the folks who are actually in power while also arguing that his doing so would be somehow out of bounds. Oh, you mean the people are actually lobbying their elected representatives to do what they want? The horror!

There is no opportunity because there is no common ground. The left/Dems want unmitigated illegal migration because they think it benefits them politically. They aren't going to stop. The right wants to protect and preserve America. One side is going to win -- there is no room for compromise. The right is simply not going to agree to continuing to allow the left to fundamentally transform the country, and the left simply isn't going to stop trying to fundamentally transform the country. This happens from time to time -- there's no room for compromise. That is where we are now.
