If you were in charge of policy for Israel, what would be your “end game?”
It’s an uncomfortable fact for many in the West to discuss, but the population of Gaza is on record as having very little interest - collectively - in a two state solution. They want a one state solution with no Israel. October 7 attacks were widely celebrated, and over the course of the past decade they’ve allowed Hamas - an organization that reportedly represents no more than 1-3% of the population (depending on which estimates you believe) - to completely integrate their military operation into the civil infrastructure of Gaza… hospitals, schools, government buildings, etc.
There seems to be a glimmer of hope that the Palestinian West Bank population may be interested - or at least could get there - in a two state solution. The PLO and now Palestinian Authority have rejected proposals as long as most of us have been alive, but there are people negotiating in good faith on the Palestinian side, and I think Israel has a demonstrated history of being willing to trade “land for peace.”
So … no need for hyper specifics, but what would the broad strokes of an “end game” policy look like for you if you’re King of Israel?
