I think the Bern may have actually had a better chance of winning than either Joe or O. That may sound radical, but hell, last Monday I thought predictions that Trump would win were radical. We are in a moment in history that will attract a lot of study IMO. And I think a lot of people who turned out for Trump and/or just stayed home, especially in the rust belt, are more reacting to the way they think the world has passed them by economically. Which is why the free trade angle and the immigration angle brought such appeal. The Bern might have appealed most to that sentiment, probably more on trade. Trump gave them somebody to direct their fury at, although I think the changing times are really to blame, and it can't be stopped. My first, greatest concern with Trump is what he does to our trade deals, whether threats of retaliation through trade are carried out by those who want to discourage a pull out from the Paris treaty. The Constitution gives me plenty of protection against my other great concerns.

That's all I'm saying - the dems shouldn't care what the press says, but I think they should do a little more soul searching about what went wrong than just who this year's candidate was.
