What's this?

I think it's safe to say America is better for most of its citizens today

than it was in the 1950's. Maybe not the job situation for working class white men who used to get paid to turn wrenches at a factory and were treated very well due to union membership. But there is little that can be done about that. Otherwise...

Women? Not even close.

African Americans? Even less close.

Other minorities? Also not close

Gays? Not close.

Even for regular working folks the job market isn't as strong but our standard of living is much higher than it was in the 50's and 60's. Everyone but the dirt poor has heated and air-conditioned housing, food to eat, and gadgets to play with. Most a nice big TV to watch too. Maybe that's part of the problem -- people plugging into "news" that tells them how awful their lives are and how they're bankrolling everyone who doesn't work's welfare checks 24/7.

I challenge those who bleat about how badly America has fallen to go check out how people live in other parts of the world. Indeed...especially those places that don't have what they decry as "socialism" and fight so hard against.
