Oh, I bet you won't think that rule is idiotic if Trump wins in November!
I go back and forth generally over term limits, but I am a fan of the 22nd amendment. I think the maintenance of the weakness of the Executive Branch, particularly given how presidential powers creep forward with time, depends heavily on the two term limit.
I have met several people who express roughly what you heard at the wedding. "We know Hill will suck, and at least with the Don, we can rely on the realities of governing pulling him to the more pragmatic center, and if nothing else, I have significant checks on his power, and I have him for 8 years at most." Not sure I can get on board with that logic, but I am sure that I have never been happier to have a two term limit.
