No. This is the kind of rhetoric that people hear and believe and it leads
To taking candidates like Trump and Sanders seriously.
Most candidates have policy platforms, ideas, and plans and know how government works well enough to make some variant of them happen. Obama ran speaking about recession recovery, financial reform, healthcare reform, and ending the wars. Disagree with what he and the Dems did all you want, but each of those things was accomplished. Dubya and Reagan ran on tax cut promises and tough national defense rhetoric, and both carried through. Bill Clinton on a "third way" that would balance the peace dividend, welfare reform, and the tax code. Accomplished. Now Hillary is running on real ideas, although the Bernie Bros have really pushed her leftward.
Overpromising is common (Bush w immigration and SS reform; Clinton w healthcare reform; Obama w O-care being the best they could pass) but its usually by someone with a clue and realistic ideas. Trump and Sanders, OTOH......
