That's fine and wonderful. Just not part of the Charlotte initiative.

No thought whatsoever was given to the concerns of the vast majority of non-transgenders. They are impacted, and they do have the same rights as transgender people to have those concerns addressed.

I never actually had very strong feelings about this until the O DOJ decided to enter the fray. I am sensitive to the issue of gay rights generally, and I don't doubt that there are people who feel trapped in the body of the opposite sex. When NC was dealing with it internally, with different groups bringing pressure to bear (I think effectively and the O admin should have stayed out of it), I had no comment, and thought that for practical considerations, NC would need to figure out how to accommodate. Eventually, they probably still will.

But I'm sorry, your comment equating separate racial bathrooms and separate gender bathrooms is off the charts, over the top, political correctness run amok. Nobody says, for example, that transgender people need to drink from separate water fountains, or sit at the back of the bus, or sit in special sections of restaurants (those they are allowed into), etc. All of those went hand in hand with "colored" restrooms. This has nothing to do with society making a group of people inferior to others. This is about acknowledging the pure physical differences between men and women and the sensitivities that brings to certain actions, where most of us typically prefer privacy (almost like now we have the science-loving liberals refusing to accept the shear, obvious science behind physical gender differences). These two issues are not remotely similar, and I think MLK should be turning in his grave at the way the movement he championed with such grace is now being cheapened.

There are, plain and simple, differences between the genders. Nobody I know is comfortable, for example, with their, let's say, 5 year old daughter being exposed to a strangers junk. Most would probably not be too comfortable with that child in a bathroom stall next to a man. Many similar examples.

So, very generous of you to offer up whatever the expense may be to make all our public bathrooms and locker rooms open to both sexes, but somehow with no privacy concerns at all. How much expense do we foist on all of society so that a tiny minority can be allowed to infringe on the sensibilities of everyone else? Is this about "civil rights" or political correctness run completely amok, such that a sizable expense will be imposed on all of society to accommodate the convenience, really, of a tiny, tiny minority? In any sort of less politically charged analogous situation, we'd say "you know what people, there are, like, 1 of you per every 10 million of us, so we think you should be the one to bend a little bit."
