At one time, many people found mixed race bathrooms to be very

uncomfortable. Most people today have never given much, if any, thought to transgender persons. Now that the subject has entered the national conversation, many more will think about it and a consensus will be developed as to what does and does not constitute legitimate transgenderism. There are also architectural solutions to this issue that I imagine will become more popular, perhaps even mandated, i.e., private stalls with full floor to ceiling walls that contain both toilet and lavatory. They wouldn't have to be much bigger than current stalls. While this would add a bit of cost to construction, so did mandating ramps and elevators for handicapped individuals. I've also seen more than one restroom in Europe that had fully private toilet stalls but the lavatories were in a unisex space. There are ways to deal with this issue that don't require Caitlyn Jenner to use the men's room, but also don't infringe on people's desire for privacy.
