I don't think it is possible to define "transgender" for this purpose,

except maybe on-the-spot lie detector tests for those claiming to be the opposite sex of their birth.

I fully agree that the discrimination of just one person is a problem. But I don't really see that as the source of my distinction here. Having "white" vs. "colored" restrooms is simply not the same as ruling that all people, regardless of their race, ethnicity, etc, will use the bathroom of their birth gender, because there are many, many people who find all-sex group bathrooms to be very uncomfortable.

This isn't like gay marriage, where really, nobody else is effected. Hard to make an anti-gay marriage argument that isn't ultimately just a play by one group to dictate to another how they should live. I oppose that completely. But I think unless we are saying that an entire history of human modesty and sensitivity regarding things like relieving oneself and getting naked in front of others has been unjustified and misguided, this bathroom issue has a direct impact on other people's lives. Especially those who have kids. Potentially a huge number of people.

People who claim to be the gender of their physiology? Don't they have rights too?

So IMO those Civil Rights activists are full of bull terd.
