I'd take that with an enormous grain of salt. Personally, I think he's
trying to drive a wedge into the Democratic party as well as message the GOP, particularly since there is no love lost by the Kochs for Donald Trump.
Since David Koch ran on the Libertarian ticket in 1980 and they finished with a disappointing 1% of the vote, the Koch dark money efforts have been focused less on overt political campaigning than at funding political organizations, think tanks, and centers for "economic freedom" at various universities around the country. That hasn't changed. These guys are playing a long game at changing the political system.
Everything they do, everything, is aimed at avoiding paying taxes, at getting around regulations, at obtaining access to public lands for private exploitation; in short, increasing their own power and maintaining their position in the power structure. They have political acolytes in various states willingly helping in that cause. The guy and his cronies and his company are despicable, robber barons 2.0.
