Israel has - thus far - deliberately only attacked IRGC targets outside Iran, which is IMO a significant show of restraint given what happened. That does not at all seem disproportionate or "boxing in" Iranian officials to launching an attack from Iran. If anyone has escalated here, it's Iran.

I'll reiterate, though, just for the sake of clarity. While I do believe Iran escalated here, I think they did so in a way that hopefully signals an intent not to escalate further. I hope Israel takes the off ramp. But when you do escalate a conflict, you lose the moral and logical highground to complain if the country you attack escalates further.
