Been linked here about the Biden missteps. Basically they didn’t want to deal with the real controversial elements of the border, because they had their own hard progressive left influences pushing and pulling against more practical members of the admin. Biden rolled back all Trump measures with a bazooka, kind of thoughtlessly, just to be “not Trump”. One thing he’d probably change if he could turn the clock back is the increased parole Cold mentions.

They made Harris the “czar” for show, and all that did was further decimate Harris’ image. The admin didn’t start to focus on this until Abbott’s antics caused prominent cities to start screaming about it. Which feeds the impression that the admin is only worrying about it when their employment contract with voters is about to expire.

Sure, Congress needs to act, and when a compromise bill came around, Trump pancaked it in an election year. But if the Biden admin hadn’t needed to be pounded over the head by nyc and Chicago before acting, Trump would not have had the same kind of leverage.

So, you know, this is not the Great Replacement scheme of ryno’s and LA’s feverish dreams, but the chaos has been a joint venture. The Biden admin’s lack of practical focus until the election season started is a big part of the problem - real, and perceived (which matters more politically).
