Doddering old dude on the decline. All the efforts dems make to convince voters that the Biden they see behind closed doors is sharp and engaged - it’s wasted breath. Voters believe their eyes, not partisan politicians.

I think that is behind almost all of Biden’s negatives in polls. He inspires confidence in nobody. While, fact is, a core of voters on the other side abandons all standards they’d apply to literally anyone else, and all but worships Trump. That’s a huge advantage for Trump. There’s an unfortunate core of American voters who’d follow that man anywhere, and would do anything to democracy to hand him power. To them, Trump is being persecuted for standing up for them and their many grievances. Literally no voter loves Biden like that.

It may be a failure of imagination for dems to stay committed to him because, historically, primary challenges to incumbents cost them in the general lection. I think it would be best if Biden stepped aside. I thought the impeachment issue might motivate that, if only for his son’s sake, but, that’s been exposed as hoaxier than anything Trumpistan ever cried about over Trump scandals (amazing how those people are always exactly what they cry about). So, hopefully negative passions about trump will outweigh the cultish devotion - that’s really the contest this year.
