I don’t know if you Trumpies realize it but you’re very similar to our modern day wokesters, looking to cancel MLK Jr because he wasn’t perfect, or even better, Lincoln because he wasn’t anti-slavery, pro-racial-equality enough for their sensibilities. He wasn’t “radical” in the jargon of the day, meaning inflexibly anti-slavery. He made noises about black deportation to a new colony to keep the races apart, and about tolerating slavery where it existed but preventing its spread. Not good enough for the inflexible extremists of today. They’d only tolerate a guy like Charles Sumner.

Who of course never could have gotten elected, because the country wasn’t where he was on race and slavery. Lincoln was the guy who could challenge slavery in the deeply divided, and still very racist (compared to today) country. If repubs then were the inflexible extremists they are today, Lincoln would have been rejected, and slavery wouldn’t have been challenged - not in 1861. If they couldn’t get everything they want, they’d cut off their nose to spite their face and take nothing. Slavery where it exists and spreading to the Pacific.

You can’t get everything you want because you control 1/3 of the govt which passes laws, in a 50/50 country. So what you’ll only accept is nothing. Continued chaos. No improvement.
