I've heard democracy once described as the politics of compromise
Sadly, compromise doesn't seem to exist in today's United States Congress. HR2 has zero percent chance of passing in the Senate, so compromise is necessary to get anything done on the immigration front, or on any front really.
I lament the fact that today's politics has become a zero sum game where if one side wins, the other side must lose. Everything on both sides is all about party and maintaining power, and has nothing to do with actually trying to govern effectively for all the people of America. Again, it is sad that today's politicians would rather be partisans than patriots.
