It wasn’t until he was arrested in Texas that he was held without bond. Seems to me the fleeing part confirmed the murder probable cause.

Otherwise, I don’t know that there was enough there to warrant denying bail. No body, no eye witnesses, no confession ( at the time). Clearly, now, it’s easy to say he was not deserving of pre-trial release, bail or no.

He made it all the way to Texas while being surveilled. The cops didn’t know he was there until a citizen fingered him. If out on bail or no bail (just probable cause), do cops track him? I don’t think so, which is the issue I presented. I don’t think he would have been held had he been arrested instead of fleeing. The Commonwealth needed more evidence at that point.
