that time at minimum was discussing mental health issues (as opposed to one phrase on "defunding sanctuary cities" to get House and others to bite that hook) including discussing needing more mental health therapists, treatment facilities and addiction centers, as well as the cost of spiraling if these issues go untreated.

As for guns being proactively confiscated that "will never, ever happen in this country", that is another large part of the discussion needed for this case. Many states, including our very own state of VA, have Red Flag Laws (which I mostly support strongly), so it is already happening. ME is not one of those. But certainly that should be a large part of a discussion when looking at how a guy that just spent two weeks this summer in a treatment center, reported to hear voices, and was known to threaten shooting up a National Guard facility was ever able to get these guns and/or keep them after that was known. Maybe starting with those folks, rather than spending time and money "tracking guns" for legal owners would be a wise move.
