If McCarthy didn’t want that to happen

He should’ve worked with the Dems when he was running for speaker the first time. He made the rules that ended in his downfall.

He knew he had 8 anarchists in his group. He chose to work with them instead of the Dems. When those anarchists unsurprisingly turn out to be anarchists, that’s on the guy who made the initial deal with them to give them that power.

Dems are willing to be reasonable (see the deal to avoid the government shutdown). But Republicans are terrified they’ll get primaried if they are seen as working with Dems.

The GOP has created this monster. They need to save themselves from themselves. The best way to do that is to work with Dems and tell the eight anarchists to fuck off.

But they are refusing to do that.
