Maybe. I think people might be more open to a different approach

particularly if it addresses, as I mentioned, kitchen table issues. Trump was a backlash by alienated groups against Obama, against inevitable demographic changes, and against dismay at the perceived loss of jobs due to technological changes, the decline of unions, and international trade. Even with that, Hill got 3M more votes. It won't take much to tip Trump out of office, IMO, especially if the Ds nominate a charismatic candidate who speaks to the Trump disenchantment. I don't think the "socialist" label is going to matter much.
