The dem party hasn't been hijacked by their extremists yet. Time will tell.

So, in the context of the discussion below (which is not meant to be a personal attack on you, by the way - Trumpies is just an easy way to say Trump supporters, and only you know whether you are in that roughly 30% that looks more like a cult following), we can hijack both parties back, starting by holding both the pols we like and the ones we don't to the same standards - in terms of the quality of their discourse, and the cynicism with which we view what they feed us.

In the case of Omar below, you were fed a lie. You claim to take offense. Don't. You don't have to like her or agree with her, but she was not trivializing 9/11. That's false, it's propaganda for political purposes, in which our president was an active participant, and if we want to hijack our parties back, we should not stand for that.

I get you can give me any number of examples of dems doing that to Trump. Anti-Trumpies eager to believe any Russian-Trump rumor that pops up, or an example somebody posted of a VOX dude celebrating misinformation about the new tax law.

If enough of us object to all of it, whichever side it comes from, then we can win out over this theater that seems to mesmerize so many people, and stop this march to the extremes.
