I tend to disagree. This "socialist" label gets tossed around a lot for any

number of ideas that people have which don't fit the narrative that the existing power structure in the US has and by that I mean the corporate interests who, lets face it, wield undue influence. Now, if the Democrats are smart they will address "kitchen table" issues because that's what has the voters concerned right now. Jobs that pay very little, struggling from paycheck to paycheck, lousy educational structure, healthcare costs.

Who can or will most effectively address these? Certainly not the GOP which is apparently bereft of ideas that don't involve cutting taxes, increasing military spending, or vilifying/scapegoating one demographic group after another. Yeah, some of the ideas coming out of the Democratic Party are nuts. But I appreciate the fact that we're in the "throwing ideas on the wall and seeing what sticks" mode. Hopefully, we will see that play out in the primaries, though I think in all likelihood it's going to come down, once again, to who has the most charisma and is able to take on Trump. You might find out more about what people want on the ground from Congressional and state elections.
