Yes, it's a completely private hospital that specializes in hernias and is entirely separate from the Canadian single payer system (one of the few that was grandfathered in when they started apparently). It has nothing to do with their public system, not one Canadian taxpayer dollar goes to them at all, and everyone that uses it pays cash outside of the system just like Rand did/is doing. So it is completely insulated from any doomsday predictions that may or may not come about due to Single Payer.

I guess that media and social network "outrage" didn't get quite the attention BuzzFeed and some Catholic boys garnered when it blew up in the faces of those trying to make the same incorrect point you're making. :-)

And yes, that is how IMO concierge type practices would have to work here whenever we do indeed go to Single Payer - fine but you pay cash.
