Obamacare was an abomination and from my perch on the further-left-than-RQ left (which btw isn't that far way from the white working class right on some issues, and this is one of them) I will shed no tears for its demise. I do believe it reflects, as you say, Obama's tragic flaw, or at least the flaw of the early first term Obama, but I disagree 180 degrees as to what that flaw was,to wit: I think it was his desire (at THAT time) to build a consensus including at least a few Republican votes, which led him to dilute, dilute, dilute the bill in search of the mythical moderate Republican vote, just ONE. Which they had already agreed to deny him no matter what, and to their credit they maintained their discipline while various Democrats shivved him in the back (I'm looking at you, Joe Lieberman).

It is my opinion based on some hints he's given out that what Trump is going to propose, and demand, from his majority is going to be something far to the left of what Congress thinks it's going to do. I'm looking very very forward to what I think is going to be an ongoing Trump vs Ryan battle for control of the caucus, and I believe Ryan is still underestimating his opponent.

I am a yooooge Trump fan, for now, until he proves me wrong, at least vs the Republican establishment AND the Republican anti-establishment freedom Caucus, neither of which I believe he identifies with, but both of which he is willing to use to his own ends.
