This rush by the repubs to dismantle it on a dime with no clear replacement - that's tragic and nothing but political. In no sane world does it make any sense. The whole idea is almost a repeat of Obama's original sin, which was this rush to get it done, and just getting fed up with the repubs and ultimately excluding them. With that alone O made higher the risks that it would become more stain than benefit to his legacy. That this day would come.

So other than Trump just being Trump there is no reason that repeal has to happen within days of inauguration. That simply creates uncertainty. Hopefully, centrist repubs win out - give Trump his repeal, but phase out should be based on replacement, not just some timeframe. They probably want it in that first 100 days, which may not be possible. Maybe they can stage it in. Very complicated, and maybe the whole thing doesn't really have to go.

Human nature will drive dems to be more difficult than helpful in the process. But they probably should try to overcome that and make themselves part of a solution. They enthusiastically accepted something they knew would need "tweaking". They might do well to accept less than perfect now, and it is not at all clear to me that repubs will bear all the political cost of a really bad outcome.
