If that's all they were ignoring, sure. But using the Kate Steinle case as


one example because we're all fairly familiar with it, we're talking about someone that was deported 5 times before murdering her. Those deportations didn't happen simply because he was here illegally. Why is it too much to expect that they (entire cities) not blanket ignore these laws/refuse to do their jobs when we're talking about serious/violent crimes? Why is it too much to expect that stiff penalties be put in place if they return after their first deportation? No one here is trying to suggest this is something akin to ignoring a speeding ticket.
